We're working a lot with the term "The Technology of Leadership", helping to clients to figure out the most effective leadership their business needs, given its culture, role in its markets, current situation and current capabilities.
We sense that there are many angles to the term but also want to define it better so all contributions are welcomed. What are your views?
Why "Technology"? Well, apart from the hardware connotations, technology can refer to systems, methods of organisation and techniques so there are a number of connections.
Technology has affected how we all work and has targeted the improvement of human productivity and the challenging of norms. Echoes of leadership dimensions here too.
Brendan researched other definitions of 'technology' and the following caught his interest:
"the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area"
"a capability given by the practical application of knowledge"
"an activity that forms or changes cultures"
I'm getting to The Technology of Leadership being the analysis of leadership and organisational culture so we can bring more value to them through practical applications, skills, challenges, coaching and tools.
We're really interested in your thoughts and ideas on the subject so please use the Comments box below to share your thinking with everyone in our network.
Many thanks
Peter
